Email marketing is like a game to me…

Every time you capture a new email address you “level up”. But with great email lists, comes great time. While it does take time to start capturing emails, once you do, your business will start growing quickly.

Having a solid email list is extremely important for any business, mine included. On average for each email on your list, you should make roughly $1.00 from them each month. So with an email list of 1,000 people, you should make roughly $1000 per month.

But how do you capture emails?

There are a ton of different ways to capture emails. You could have a blog, landing pages, funnels, asking for them in Facebook group membership questions, the list goes on and on.

What happens if you want to capture emails from lets say your Instagram followers? Well Instagram isn’t just going to hand over your users email addresses, so you have to find a way to capture it.

You don’t want to build out a big website yet because well that takes time & is a bit to advanced for you currently.

Note: I didn’t build my first website for 2 years.

One of my favorite ways to capture email addresses is via landing pages. Landing pages are simple, quick, and easy to set up whether you are using ClickFunnels, ConvertKit or another email/marketing platform. Before we dive into creating your first landing page, you need to understand why I use ConvertKit.

What is Convert Kit?

Convert Kit Home Page:

Convert Kit is a Email Service Provider (ESP) that allows you to email your entire or part of your list at the same time. You write your email, select the audience you’d like to send it to, and boom your email ends up in their inbox.

Convert Kit has been my go to platform for over 4 years now & it has helped me grow my business much quicker than I expected. With being able to add tags & segments within your lists it makes organization easy!

Plus, you can sign up for FREE and create landing pages for FREE until you hit 1,000 subscribers on your list.

Click Here To Sign Up Now:

Creating Your First Landing Page:

Once your account is created on ConvertKit click on “Landing Pages & Forms” at the top left in the menu bar & then on Landing Pages.

From here you will have numerous different design layouts and templates to chose from for you to easily create a landing page to start capturing emails.

Once you have selected your template its time to start editing.

Editing Your Landing Page Info:

At this point you have your template laid out, as you can see I picked one of the basic ones & just changed out the paragraph to be more relevant to my business.

Staying Organized:

Under the email address box on the template, you will see numerous check boxes, these are called tags. This will allow me to stay organized & only email subscribers about things they are interested about.

Creating Tags:

Tag Creation: Convert Kit

Under the subscriber tab in the menu bar, you will see on the right hand side a section call tags.

Simply click create tags & name your tag what you would like, I have used Email Marketing, General Business, Side Hustle Ideas, Tech & Lifestyle. These are all going to be relevant to what I share on my Medium profile and beyond.

Attracting Subscribers:

Attracting subscribers is one of the hardest things to do when starting out, but don’t worry, I have been in your EXACT shoes before. Luckily for you I didn't have any tutorials, there were a lot of trial and error periods, and I messed up A LOT.

Before we dive into my three favorite places to obtain new followers & subscribers, you must decide what your niche or product is.

If you say I just want to make money & that is as far as you have made it in your business plan, you might want to take a step back first & think of a direction.

Do you want to help teach a subject you are an expert at? Do you have a digital or physical product you’d like to sell? Do you want to blog about a topic you are passionate about? Would you like to promote other’s products?

Before you get started, you must pick a direction you plan to go, otherwise capturing emails & gaining followers will do absolutely nothing for you or your business.

Once you figure out your “IT”, it’s time to start gaining subscribers.

  1. Facebook Groups:

It is no surprise I love Facebook Groups, you may have found this article because I posted it in a Facebook Group. When you create a Facebook group for your niche, you are able to set up membership questions in which you can ask for an email address in a question.

Sample Question: Want to receive our newsletter for free? Enter your email below!

Each time you go to approve new members, scan through the pending members & grab all of the emails out.

This will not only start gaining you new subscribers, but will grow your group!

Once you start obtaining members in your group, you can then share a landing page like above or create a free product to giveaway to capture emails as well. Don’t worry, if someone signs up twice Convert Kit will not add it to your account twice.

2. Pinterest:

Personally I think Pinterest is underrated by a long shot. You can create boards about your niche & create pins that get placed all over Pinterest for ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. It takes only a few minutes to create a pin & it will be out there for all to see.

The most important thing about Pinterest is creating good looking images. This can be done with sites like PlaceIt or within design softwares like Photoshop & Canva!

I will be writing an article about Pinterest very soon so be sure to hit the follow button!

3. Instagram:

“Instagram is just for photo’s”

I personally know numerous people that make well into the 6 figures because of Instagram on their own. Instagram is a photo sharing based social media platform, but with the use of hashtags & those beautiful images you created for Pinterest it will take less effort.

On Instagram you can have a link in your bio, making it easy to have your landing page right there for all to see. You can utilize some of your characters in your bio to say “Subscribe To Our Newsletter👇” with a the link displaying below.

Conclusion:

It is no lie that I love email marketing and that Facebook groups are by far my largest lead generator. Facebook groups don’t have to be “business base”, they can be about just about any niche.

Facebook groups & email lists start out slow, but as time goes on the steam picks up. If you are truly passionate about tropical fish, I am sure you can start a tropical fish Facebook group and break 100 members pretty quickly.

You don’t have to use Convert Kit either, there are numerous platforms out there that do the exact same thing. Convert Kit is the platform I have used for a few years now & it is what I enjoy using. Everything is simple, clean & straight to the point, and managing your account as it grows is very easy. But don’t be afraid to check out other platforms like Mailchimp, Aweber, or ActiveCampaign, there are hundreds of different platforms available.

No matter the niche you are going into, or what you want to do, a email list is a highly valuable asset for your business. Start growing your email list as soon as possible, you will thank yourself later.
